INITIAL VISIT

We offer a no obligation initial meeting to discuss your requirements and see the garden. Among other things we discuss what you like and don’t like about your garden, what you would like in your new garden, how you wish to use the space and any particular inspiration or style that you may wish to be incorporated into the new design.

SITE SURVEY

An accurate survey of the existing garden is needed before the design can begin. All aspects of the existing plot will be noted and measurements taken to enable an accurate scale plan to be drawn up. Differences in ground level and existing structures including garden buildings and mature trees that are to remain will also be noted.

SECOND VISIT

On the second visit we’ll bring along pictures which are relevant to your garden and your brief along with quick sketches of what we might do in the garden. It is also useful if you have any photographs or articles that have caught your imagination so we may discuss these at the meeting.

SKETCH PROPOSALS

A sketch drawn plan and elevation will be submitted. These form a discussion document where we present our ideas and talk through any changes you’d like.

PRESENTATION PLAN

Once you’re happy with the design we’ll do a full presentation plan - this shows in more detail how the design will work with such things as levels and structures and water features, electrical lighting and proposed planting beds drawn in.

PLANTING PLANS

Planting plans show the specific location and spacing of all the plants. A schedule lists the plant names, sizes and quantities and is used for costing, ordering and setting out the plants. We can also do a maintenance guide which shows how to look after the plants.

CONSTRUCTION

Once the plan has been finalised and agreed a full quote can be drawn up based on the amount of time and materials involved. This can vary considerably based on the size of the garden and the type and quantity of the specific hard landscaping materials employed within the project. We can give a rough approximation at the second visit and we are able to work to specific budgets from the outset.

PLANTING AND MAINTENANCE

We can source and supply and install plants of the highest quality and at competitive prices from carefully selected nurseries.

COSTS

We base our charges on £35 an hour (plus VAT) and our aim is to be open about charges. So we’ll always give a written estimate.

As an example a typical suburban garden will take about 12-14 hours to get to a finished plan.

If the garden is larger it will obviously take longer to do and vice versa - but do give us a call or drop a line and we can chat about your garden.
