Modern Garden
Client Brief:
The sloping back garden would be more apparent when the new extension would be completed and so the client expressed a wish to bring the garden level down and allowing for a flat lawn and not a grassy slope for the children to play on. Areas for adults to sit and enjoy the sun were also high on the list!Solution:
A design was drawn up to incorporate areas for growing vegetables, areas for sitting and dining in the afternoon sun and a smaller area in the shade for a small table and chairs.A large amount of chalk had to be removed and a retaining wall constructed in order to bring the ground level down but it has yielded a much more useable and attractive space. The garden has a contemporary feel and uses a natural polished sandstone paving to achieve this sleek look. A decking area uses the void space behind the garage to full effect and Oak sleeper beds allow for the family to enjoy growing vegetables together.
