Garden makeover
Client Brief:
To change the existing low cost ( and uniform in size ) concrete paving slabs to something more pleasing to the eye and that complements the house. The large conifers at the end of the garden were to be removed and replaced with more attractive semi mature trees and border planting. A herb bed, vegetable beds and a storage shed were also required.Solution:
The new garden has a larger main patio area and all pathways have been widened so they no longer ‘hug the house’ and the edges softened with mixed planting. A small circular paved area has been placed near to the house ( Ideal for early morning coffee in the summer )and is partly surrounded with a herb garden being ideally situated by the kitchen. The semi-mature trees include a large Liquidamber styraciflua ( Sweet Gum ) which adds impact and helps screen the view of the neighbouring property and of course will look stunning with the Autumn leaf colour.
An arbour seat acts as a focal point and allows the garden and house to be enjoyed from a different perspective. The Oak raised beds, greenhouse and fan-trained cherry complete the productive area of the garden.
